- Beta titanium: Has all the benefits of titanium but with added flexibility.
- Beryllium: Less expensive than titanium, light, durable, flexible, and tarnish-resistant.
- Memory metal: A titanium alloy that is very flexible.
- Monel: Inexpensive but may discolor over time or cause allergic reactions.

- Polycarbonate: Impact resistant provides UV protection.

- Photochromic: Changes from clear to tinted when exposed to sunlight made of plastic or glass.
- Polarized: Reduces glare typically found in sunglasses.
- Multifocal (bifocal or trifocal): Corrects vision for various distances.
- Progressive addition: Corrects vision for various distances without the lines of bifocal or trifocal lenses.
- Anti-reflective: Anti-glare resists scratches, fingerprints, and dust.
- Glass: Scratch resistant, heavy, less safe than other lenses.
